How to Find an Easy Science Project

It happens all too often that kids are completely clueless about how to begin their “easy” science projects. Especially when a student has a free hand at choosing the science topic to be covered, and when it is also up to them to design the project, finding one that they can be happy with and is easy at the same time is often a dilemma. Sometimes students spend so much time thinking of what to do that they run out of time to do it! Other times, they keep putting it off till the last minute and find that they will be stuck with a second rate project because of their procrastinating.

Whichever category you fall under, it is time you learned the techniques for finding a truly easy science project! The first step or technique is to whip out your notebook or textbook. Look at the topics you have discussed in class, or if you want extra points, read the upcoming topics. You may be surprised to find out that most science textbooks give project examples. If you took notes diligently while in class, you will also see that your teacher gave several project examples during lecture classes. These examples are already a great start!

Some teachers may not appreciate your copying the examples they gave in class, so ask for their permission. They may not also want you to do something straight from the book, so it is good to ask them about it as well. Teachers are not trying to make your life difficult they are just trying to make sure you learned the concept. What you can propose is to modify a part of the project example found in your textbook or in your notes. Modifying the project can make it your own, and should please your teacher while assuring you that it is still an easy science project.

If your teacher disagrees to letting you use textbook or class examples altogether, do not give up hope yet! Read your lessons again, and choose one that you really enjoyed and understood. Study the example project given for this lesson. Remember that an easy science project displays a concept of science. If you fully understand a concept, you will be able to think of the easiest example. Once you think of the easiest example or demonstration for the concept, you have your project!

To give a specific example, let us say you really enjoyed the lesson of the solar system and the universe. In this lesson, you are likely to have discussed the stars, and navigation. Think about the explanation as to why the North Star or Polaris never moves. If you fully understand the concept behind it, you can create a simple diorama with an object that mimics the North Star while another object spins on the axis. This easy science project shows how well you have learned the concept of navigation via the stars, and it is a great way to make sure your classmates learned it as well!
